Gibson is reviving another piece of their past with several
new Goldtone tube combos. Based on the "S" series amps produced in the
1950s, they utilize 12AX7 preamp tubes and EL84 power tubes running in a Class
A configuration.
Three new models are available. The GA-15 pushes 15 Watts into a single 10
inch Celestion Vintage speaker and features a bright switch. It's slightly bigger
brother, the GA-15RV, offers a 12 inch Celestion Vintage speaker, switchable triode/pentode
operation of the power tubes, Accutronics reverb, and bright switch, still with
15 Watts of power. For those that need more power and stereo operation, Gibson
also has the GA-30RVS. Like the GA-15RV, it includes Accutronics reverb and bright
switch, but it sports a pair of 12 inch speakers each driven by 15 Watts of power.
A stereo effects loop, stereo external speaker out, and footswitchable gain boost
are also standard.
All three Goldtone amps are handcrafted in the U.K., and feature a gold metallic
grill with brown leatherette finish.
