Digidesign Offers Special Pro Tools Upgrade for Project II Owners April 16, 1999 There has been quite a bit of heated discussion lately on Digidesign's web site regarding the support of Pro Tools with the Project II digital audio card. Early literature on the Project II may have incorrectly stated that Pro Tools support for the hardware was forthcoming, but no such support is planned. The Project II was originally designed as a high quality I/O card for use with third party software such as Cubase, Logic Audio, and Digital Performer according to Digidesign. In response to customer concerns and complaints, Digidesign is offering a special upgrade deal for Project II owners. If you purchased Project II before April 13 under the assumption that it would support Pro Tools software, Digidesign will exchange your Project II card for a refurbished Pro Tools|24 TDM core system for the same price as Pro Tools software - $795! (Digidesign claims there is absolutely no difference in quality or performance between a refurbished system and a new system as each board is subjected to the same rigorous testing, qualification, and packaging procedures as any brand new product). Because the low price on this offer, the following restrictions apply: You must be the original registered owner and must have purchased your product before today, April 13 (transfers of ownership are not eligible) If your registration has not been processed yet, you will be required to provide documentation regarding your date of purchase.
