Gadget Labs Introduces New WavePRO 24-bit Audio Interfaces

October 6, 1999

Adding a family of complimentary products to its successful Wave/824(TM) interface, Gadget Labs introduces new flexibility to Windows and Mac desktop audio recording with integrated WavePRO(TM) products.

Comprised of 24-bit PCI audio cards, interface patch boxes and software drivers, the WavePRO family integrates easily with popular analog and digital studio equipment. All of the WavePRO equipment is based upon Gadget Labs' proprietary SoundCache(TM) architecture, ensuring the smooth flow of audio to and from the computer.

"Whether you are looking for a four-channel audio interface with MIDI for your home studio, or professional, 24-channel capability with ADAT connectivity, the WavePRO family can meet your needs," said Rob Ranck, Gadget Labs president. "We're offering incredible flexibility to mix and match components to fit your audio recording requirements and budget."

All WavePRO PCI cards include special features that facilitate interconnection and scalability. First, each card includes a clock sync connector that allows the master audio clock to be shared (256x super-clock). This ensures that multiple cards and audio channels work together as a single unit with locked timing and no audio drift. Second, the WavePRO cards include a special, "daughtercard" connection for adding optional digital audio features, specifically ADAT light pipe and S/PDIF. Lastly, the software drivers are built from a common platform to ensure compatibility.

The WavePRO line builds on the success of the Wave/824 digital recording interface, with 8-in and 8-out channels of 24-bit digital audio. The Wave/824 includes PCI card and rack-mount patch box with active-balanced electronics for quiet analog connection to audio mixers, preamps and amplifiers. Shipping directly to customers since early this year, the Wave/824 is available for $599 U.S.

The new additions to the WavePRO line include:

Gadget Labs WavePRO family also includes optional "daughtercards" to add popular digital audio interfaces to the base PCI cards:

ADAT option card - Based on the new Alesis 1401 and 1402 chips for complete compatibility, the ADAT option adds a digital audio lightpipe connection. To ensure synchronization with other digital studio components, Word Clock input and output connections are also included. The WavePRO ADAT Option card is scheduled to ship in October for $249 U.S.

S/PDIF option card - The WavePRO SPDIF option adds digital audio I/O with support for 16-bit or 24-bit sample depth. Shipping now for $129 U.S. the S/PDIF option card has been enhanced to include both RCA and optical connections.
