Eric Johnson and Alien Love Child Release Live and Beyond August 24, 2000Grammy Award winning rock guitar virtuoso Eric Johnson has announced the release of his new album, Live And Beyond, on Favored Nations Entertainment.
Accompanying him on the release is Alien Love Child, Erics group of consummate musicians, which boasts the talents of Bill Maddox on drums/vocals, and Chris Maresh on bass. Alien Love Child was born as a necessary and temporary off-night musical diversion during the 1995 recording sessions for Venus Isle. Eric emphasizes, "The band has definitely taken a life of it's own. I never thought wed do it more than a couple of times, now I cant think of life without it."
Malford Milligan of Storyville makes a guest appearance and lends his soulful vocals to two tracks: "Once A Part Of Me," and "Dont Cha Know." Live And Beyond consists of all new material, most of which was recorded live during a three-night stand at Antone's, the world famous club in Erics home town of Austin, Texas.
"It was a lot of fun, we took things a little bit farther than normal and broadened the sound more by playing a wider selection of material. Mostly it was about having a good time with some great music and some of my favorite musicians," notes Eric. Listeners will feel the energy of the band and the audience jump off this record.
The Favored Nations Entertainment label was started by Eric's friend and acclaimed guitarist Steve Vai and Ray Scherr, former owner of the Guitar Center store chain. Vai comments, "Eric has more colorful tone in his fingers than Van Gogh had on his palette. His touch on guitar is honest and intimate. He is one of those few musicians who keeps getting better and better." Favored Nations Entertainment is distributed by RED Distribution.
Eric Johnson and Alien Love Child will be touring in support of Live And Beyond, which will be released October 24, 2000. For more information, visit their web site at www.favorednations.com. |
