SSEYO Adds Powerful Synthesiser To Expanding Koan Interactive Audio PlatformThe Fastest System For Stunning Website Music, Sounds, Treatments,
Percussion and FX May 31, 2000SSEYO, a leading developer of Interactive
Audio solutions for convergent technologies, today launched new releases of
all products in its Koan software range. SSEYO Koan now includes a powerful and integrated software
synthesiser with fully routable and webpage programmable modules.
Furthermore, through an important parallel innovation it supports full MIDI
file playback allowing generative augmentation of existing MIDI material.
The floodgates have opened for artists looking to pioneer new audio
experiences for websites, desktops, installations, embedded systems and
mobile devices.
The new integrated hybrid digital/analogue synth allows authors to create
and control the most shockingly stunning low-bandwidth audio, realistically
from files as small as 1Kb. It also lets authors apply synth sounds and MP3
samples to MIDI tracks and even to add FX to the MP3 samples! It features
the following: a range of effects units including distortion, chorus,
reverb, delay, compression, ring modulation and filter; a range of highly
specified generator units including tone generator, granular synthesis,
percussion synth and virtual sample generator; a range of powerful
transformer and modulator units including: synching/non-synching LFO,
envelope, multiply, add, pan and amplify; a built in limiter.
Francis Charig, Chairman and CEO of Tao Group said, "The SSEYO Koan
interactive audio engine is providing the integrated audio layer for our
comprehensive media system for networked digital appliances. These latest
developments from SSEYO underline their 'best-of-breed' status and will be
greatly welcomed by our developer community."
Commenting on the new release, Brian Eno, creator of Koan based Generative
Music 1, said "The coupling of a powerful software synthesiser to Koan's
existing compositional software opens up an amazing set of opportunities for
generative music. Really promising."
Added Andrew Shoben of Greyworld, the pioneering group of audio installation
artists, "Our current sound installation at London's Hayward Gallery is made
possible through the power of the SSEYO Koan interactive audio platform. The
new features mean the creative scope of the system is now simply enormous,
and we are already using it to explore fascinating new avenues."
Said Andrew Garton of Toy Satellite, pioneering Australian based interactive
media artists, "The SSEYO Koan Audio platform is set to transform the
concept of music making and music listening... again! The new synthesis
engine is incredible, and Koan's power, programmability and portability
makes it ideal for delivering emergent sound environments. Toy Satellite has
embraced Koan as its audio engine of choice for both website sound
applications and installation works."
In this release SSEYO have uprated its entire product range to include the
new engine. Major products are versioned as follows: SSEYO Koan Pro 2.5 PE
(Win / Mac), SSEYO Koan X V1.5 XE (Win) and the SSEYO Koan Plugin V7 (Win /
Mac). The $200 SSEYO Koan Pro authoring system and $30 SSEYO Koan X drag and
mix system are both available from the SSEYO online store. The sub-350Kb
X-browser SSEYO Koan Plugin 7 is even more programmable, with now around 250
parameters and 100 functions. It can also drive web animations (e.g.
Flash/DHTML) through webpage java-script. The Koan system continues to work
seamlessly with MP3, WAV, SoundFonts, XG and MIDI. For more information, visit their web site at www.sseyo.com. |
