TC Works Introduces Spark Modular

June 8, 2000

TC WORKS has announced Spark Modular, a new modular virtual analog synthesiser for Spark! Spark Modular can be used integrated within the realtime digital audio editor application Spark!, or as a stand alone VST instrument within any Macintosh application supporting VST instruments. "The Spark Modular is a modular synth in the tradition of old modular systems, providing you with the real thing (...or at least as real as virtual analog can get)!" comments Ralf Schluenzen, CEO of TC Works.

Spark Modular includes a special VST instrument version of Spark's FXmachine, so it can be used directly in Cubase, Logic or any other sequencer supporting VST instruments. While the synthesiser is not linked to Spark, it can run within Spark too. The special FXmachine's powerful open-ended design allows you to freely design a synth with the included TC-O oscillator, TC-F filter and TC-A amplifier modules - and you decide how many oscillators, filters or amplifiers you would like, and in which order you would like to combine them. Adding VST FX into the signal chain is also possible within the FXmachine's routing matrix. Additionally, Spark Modular comes with its own 16 step sequencer Plug-In, TCSEQ, allowing you to recreate those classic monophonic sequencing lines. Sequencer features include the ability to sync to MIDI, change pattern direction and the ability to use multiple sequencers in the matrix at the same time.

Spark Modular's TCO monophonic dual oscillator module supplies you with all the classic waveforms, offers Pulse Width Modulation, an additional Sub-Oscillator, Oscillator Sync, Ring Modulation, and an integrated LFO. It's TCF Filter module provides you with a 12, 18 or 24 dB Low Pass Filter with resonance, an additional Hi Pass Filter, its own envelope, envelope follower, single and multi trigger. The TCA Amplifier module offers the classic ADSR curve and more - "Drive" allows for analog sounding drive in this module, employing TC Works' renowned SoftSat(tm) circuit. Also provided is the software TCK, a virtual MIDI keyboard with pitch bend and 2 assignable modulation wheels for direct note and data entry with no extra hardware.
