T-RackS 24 Now Available for MacOS and Windows November 10, 2000
IK Multimedia has announced the availability of its new T-RackS 24 (ver. 2.0) the
stand-alone software mastering suite for MacOS and Windows that is physically modeled
after analog gear.
The new version 2 contains numerous improvements:
- NEW 24-bit
Reads and writes 24 bit Aiff, Wav and SD2 files. Now it's possible to do 24 bit mixes and
process in T-RackS at full resolution. Or process individual audio tracks with zero fidelity
loss for later 24 bit mixing.
-
Quality Bit Conversion
For mastering to CD, T-RackS will perform outstanding high-end dithering to preserve the
richness and depth of your mix when converting to 16 bit.
-
ENHANCED Multiband Peak Limiter Algorithm.
The sound of the Multiband Peak Limiter has been greatly enhanced. Now you can get
even more transparent, more accurate and more detailed sound from T-RackS' exclusive
algorithm, improved to match the vast majority of users' needs.
-
NEW Output Stage with Soft-Clipping Shaper.
For astoundingly musical and smooth performance, and to create warm, saturated
mastering effects, the new variable clipping shaper offers precise control over the output
stage, replacing the old "hard/soft" switch. The new variable-shape clipping stage, with pre
and post levels, allows for very high loudness, even without using compression or limiting.
The saturation shape is continuously variable from hard digital clipping to ultra smooth
tape-like saturation. It's very useful for obtaining overloaded effects on your masters,
without suffering a single over!
-
NEW Ratio Control on the Compressor.
The T-RackS Compressor has been further improved with
an added ratio control. This makes the unit even more flexible and musical, adapting to
higher ratio needs for vocals, or lower ratios to gently compress an acoustic mix, for
example.
-
NEW Internal Parameter Adjustment!
Ever wanted to adjust T-RackS' behavior and calibration? Now you can! T-RackS 24 comes
with a set of user-configurable files that describe much of its internal architecture. It's
possible, for example, to adjust the Multiband Limiter's single band levels, thresholds or
attack times, or change the sidechain low frequency cutoff on the Compressor, or adjust
the global internal patch routing. A large variety of special "internal settings" will be
provided to give you a wide range of different sonic characteristics. T-RackS 24 users will
also be able to share these settings online through a new T-RackS pro-mastering web
forum!
-
NEW x10 Magnifier on the Peak Meter.
The Peak Meter LED can now be switched, or "zoomed in" to view levels between -7.2 dB
and 0 dB at 1/10 dB accuracy in the upper range. This is very useful for setting the precise
output level of the soft clipping stage at, for example, -0.2 dB.
-
NEW "Over" LED.
NEW "Over" LED precisely shows when the master has "overs."
-
NEW Mono, Stereo and Difference Monitoring.
NEW mono, stereo and difference monitoring for checking the master for mono-compatibility
and stereo image coherence, same as in high-end consoles.
-
8 NEW Amazing "Vintage" Skins.
Choose from gold, copper, chrome, brass, lizard, "beat-up", camouflaged or "techno-fied,"
to suit your own style, or your client's mood!
-
NOW more than 50 Presets.
A quick start for both pros and beginners. A lot of smart and usable presets that you can
use right out of the box, or to help you get acquainted with your new gear.
-
NOW 100% Dongle-Free.
By popular demand, T-RackS 24 is now copy-protected with a challenge-code system
which can be obtained immediately online. No more hardware dongles, and no more
conflicts with your parallel or USB devices.
