Carillon Announces New Rack-Mount Computers, Ups Specs

UK-based Carillon has increased the minimum specification of all it's audio systems without bumping up the price. All systems now ship with at least 1GHz Intel Pentium III processors (options for faster 1.13 and 1.2GHz chips available) and 30GB system drives.
The new TUSL2-C motherboard from Asus replaces the CUSL2-C as Carillon's board of choice. This ensures compatibility with the new Intel Tualatin Pentium III chips produced by Intel's shift from a 0.18-micron to a 0.13-micron manufacturing process. All other features of the board are practically identical to that of the CUSL2. Prices now start at £999 inc VAT and all include the Loopstation software, 1000's of copyright free samples, Cakewalk Pyro CD burning/MP3 software, Emagic Zap compression software and Carillon Fix dial-in remote support software.
Many systems are now down in price and two new systems have been added to the range of preconfigured systems: the first combines the sampling power of Halion with Cubase and the M-Audio Audiophile to create the powerful VST Sampling System; the second system comes by popular demand and combines Propellerheads Reason with the Audiophile card to create the Carillon Reason Workstation. The new systems come with 256MB of RAM as standard and cost £1749 and £1599 respectively.
Finally, in preparation for the release of Windows XP, Carillon have been putting Windows 2000 through its paces, and are now happy to offer it as an operating system for many of their systems. An upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 Professional would be £60. You can contact Carillon to see which combinations of hardware and software are suitable for Windows 2000.
