Open Labs Announces NeKo 64-Bit OpenSynth Keyboard
October 15, 2003
Open Labs announced that they have created
the OpenSynth NeKo 64 line of AMD Opteron processor-based high performance
keyboards for the music industry.
Starting with the OpenSynth NeKo (previously named eKo), Open Labs will now offer
single and dual AMD Opteron processor-equipped models capable of addressing up to 8GB of
RAM. The OpenSynth NeKo 64 is an all-in-one keyboard workstation
with AMD64 architecture, which allows musicians to run all existing 32-bit Microsoft Windowsbased
musical applications and plug-ins as well as 64-bit applications seamlessly.
With a 64-bit data path, the processor is capable of much greater memory bandwidth, reduced
memory latencies, resulting in increased processor performance, essential to optimal
performance for all virtual instruments and effects.
In addition, the AMD Opteron 64 processor utilizes HyperTransport technology to provide a
scalable bandwidth interconnect between processors, I/O subsystems, and other chipsets
including support of up to three coherent HyperTransport links, providing up to 19.2 GB/s
peak bandwidth per processor.
Expected ship date for NeKo 64 is Q4, 2003. The NeKo 64 is priced from $6,645.00.
