Soundminer announced that the upcoming release of Soundminer 3.1 will contain among other things, support for Propellerhead's multi-channel ReWire for use inside Digidesign Pro Tools and Steinberg Nuendo (MAC) environments.
xReWire is a technology for transferring audio data between software applications -- in real time - the software equivalent of a multi-channel audio cable. Users will now be able to stream up to 8 channels of audio from Soundminer through their hardware while their DAW application is running.
At the heart of this version is the new Soundminer ReWire Engine. Based on Soundminer 3.0's original playback engine, the new engine will allow for on the fly bit depth and sampling rate conversion of up to eight discreet 24bit/192khz audio streams.
Regardless of your Pro Tools session or Nuendo setup, sounds can be auditioned with their surround placement intact. Moreover, the user has access to both the VST Rack in the Soundminer Browser as well as their favourite VST plug-ins in Nuendo and their RTAS and TDM plug-ins inside Pro Tools. A big part of sound editorial is selecting sounds that work in context with the user's existing tracks. This new feature will let users' audition new sounds from Soundminer against their existing DAW audio and video tracks with sample-accurate sync.... Users will also be able to audition more traditional mono or stereo sounds panned "in-place" using their DAW's built in surround architecture.
Soundminer is a fast elegant Macintosh-based file management system compatible with all Digidesign Pro Tools and Steinberg Nuendo Macintosh environments. It supports all major audio formats, instant cataloging from local or network drives, built-in clip editors, spotting, batch transfers, native plug-in processing, the digitizing of commercial SFX CDs, multi-terminal networking, encrypted file access, remote systems access and support for direct query of mSoft based systems.
More details on 3.1 will be announced shortly. There will be a upgrade cost for existing users. Soundminer 3.1 MSRP: $995.
