Defective Records Software introduces the OS X version of VSTi Host, version 3.0X. VSTi Host version 1.0 was the first Mac-based standalone VST and VSTi host (originally released in early 2000),and now offers VST support on the OS X platform.
VSTi Host 3.0X allows VST instrument and effect plugins to be used outside of larger host applications (like Cubase, Logic, etc.). It also allows for sequencers that may not have native support for VST plugins and/or instruments (like the OS X versions of ProTools and Logic) to use them right alongside those sequencers.
Version 3.0X boasts many features, including:
- Simultaneous use of both a VST instrument (VSTi) and either file playback (AIFF) or real-time audio input
- Realtime routing of audio through 4 VST effects via a flexible effect routing architecture
- Support for ASIO (OS 9) or CoreAudio (OS X) compliant hardware, yielding improved low latency capability
- Support for recording output to file (AIFF)
- Virtual MIDI keyboard
- Online quick help
VSTi Host is useful if you have an extra Mac that you'd like to put to use as a virtual synth and/or effects unit, or if your sequencer of choice doesn't support the VST plugins you'd like to use. For more information, visit their web site at www.defectiverecords.com. |
