Currently celebrating the company's 20th anniversary, Blade Guitars' Gary Levinson has produced the new California Climax and California Classic electric guitars.
California Climax
Featuring a hand-rubbed oil finish on North American alder, this allows the wood to breathe while giving it a distinctly lived-in look. The result is a very light and resonant instrument whose satin finished maple neck adds to this natural 'pre-played' feel while avoiding stickiness, even under the hottest stage lights.
Boasting a hard-tail bridge, the new California Climax has a single LH-4 humbucker to enhance attack and sustain, with additional power and presence provided by two VS-1 single coil pickups mounted in a vintage cream pickguard, adding cutting bell-like highs.
Another feature is the VSC-3 Variable Spectrum control for improved tonal versatility. Supplied with an ultralight, high impact case, the California Climax is a available in a number of oiled finishes including Very Violet, Rubbed Red, Brushed Blue and Totally Natural.
California Classic
The smaller, elegantly contoured body of the California Classic, both light and comfortable to play, is complemented by a slim, fast neck begging to be throttled for fat power chords and screaming solos. Powered by two VS-1 vintage style single coil pickups and one LH-4 humbucker, the guitar also sports a Blade vintage style M-54 tremolo for superb vintage tones and perfect string spacing.
Another major feature is 'Auto-Split' switching, which automatically splits the humbucker when combined with the middle single coil pickup. Supplied with a Blade Polyfoam case, the California Classic is available in a variety of colours including Jet Black, Vintage White, Purple Rain and Blue Metallic.
