Vintage instruments—guitars in particular—have skyrocketed in value as collectors scramble to acquire rare pieces of history. Conservation is a task that savvy collectors take seriously, lest they find themselves shopping for restoration services.

The Great-Case Cabinet Company is announcing a line of cabinetry to preserve and display Violins, Mandolins, and Guitars. Great-Case plans to liberate rare instruments from their traditional cases so that they may be admired and conserved as fine art.

Thermal insulation and moisture control are the keys to preservation. The unobstructed, frameless door is inlayed to create a sealed enclosure with convenient access. Outfitted with Hygrometer, Dryer or Humidifier, these enclosures envelope the instrument in conditioned air, easily monitored and precisely controlled.

Featuring solid hardwoods ranging from Oak to Rosewood, these cabinets are hand crafted with classic techniques such as dovetail and mortise & tennon joinery. Hand rubbed varnishes highlight the level of craftsmanship invested in each of these custom cabinets.

Most aficionados of rare instruments believe that they should be played regularly, and that they deserve to be seen as well as heard. Access, presentation and protection make Great-Case the best way to keep an eye on your investment.

For Oak, prices range from $425 for a small case suitable for Strats and Teles, up to $1200 for a cabinet large enough to generously host acoustic and oversized electric guitars. Custom orders with rare, but responsibly sourced exotic hardwoods are Great Case's specialty.
