Roland GC-408 and GC-408x Guitar Amplifiers

The GC-408 Amp
The GC-408S Speaker Cabinet
July 11, 1997

When Roland introduced the GC-405 and 405x Guitar Amplifiers last year, their unique 4 x 5" speaker, stackable cabinet design raised more than a few eyebrows. But all disbelievers were converted after hearing these compact, multi-speaker amps cranked up...

With the new Roland GC-408 and GC-408X Guitar Amplifiers, this incredibly dynamic tone and TubeLogicTM "HOT" overdrive has made its way into the "gigging musician" market with larger 4x8" speaker cabinets, enhanced controls and more power.

The GC-408 is a 60-watt, two-channel guitar amplifier that combines a stackable 4x8" cabinet and proprietary TubeLogicTM "HOT" technology to deliver a huge sound with rich lows and increased dynamics that just isn't possible with open-back "non-stacked" designs. Output increases to 80 watts in the GC-408X Amplifier (comprised of a GC-408 and a GC-408S Speaker Cabinet)-more than enough power for just about any club gig.

GC-408 tonal shaping is provided via passive 3-band EQ and active Presence controls, "Pre-" and "Post" controls (Lead Channel), and a Volume control (Clean Channel). These controls are further enhanced by a footswitchable "Boost" control (Lead Channel), a "Bright" switch (Clean Channel), and built-in AccutronicsTM spring reverb (also selectable via footswitch).

A unique "Power Squeezer" function is the first of its type in this class of guitar amplifiers. It cuts power level by either 50 or 80 percent while retaining full overdrive characteristics-perfect for low-volume practice or studio gigs.

Dedicated Effects Send and Return jacks allow for the connection of external effects devices, while the GC-408's external speaker jack can power the GC-408S Speaker Cabinet (sold separately or packaged together in the 8x8" GC-408X Guitar Amplifier).

For gigging guitarists looking for an affordable way to get that rich, full stack sound in a smaller "combo"-size amp, look no further. The feature-packed, amazing sounding GC-408 and GC-408X have arrived.
