Roland Introduces KR-75 Digital Intelligent Piano

July 10, 1998

Roland Corporation U.S. adds the KR-75 to its popular KR line of digital intelligent pianos. Designed to offer superb piano sounds and convenient new features, this affordable 88-key digital piano targets the entry-level market, as well as used piano buyers.

Sure to be one of the most popular instruments, the KR-75 is designed for beginning players. It offers the acclaimed Roland stereo piano sampling technology for uncompromised acoustic piano reproduction, a 64-voice polyphonic sound source and responsive, natural key touch to give the KR-75 a wide range of expressiveness, even when playing complex musical passages.

In additional to its exquisite piano sounds, the KR-75 features an extensive variety of other instrument sounds, including guitar, saxophone, and strings, as well as drum sounds and applause. Greatly expanding these instrumental sounds, the KR-75's numerous built-in effects include chorus and reverb.

The KR-75's 111 built-in music combine the rhythm and instruments of various musical genres. Styles range from Jazz to Boss Nova, all of which have been fine-tuned by professional musicians. With 16 specially-developed new Acoustic styles (included on a floppy disk), players can even perform "unplugged-style performances. The KR-75's new Style Party function provides chord progressions for any of music styles, freeing up the 88-note keyboard and allowing users to easily play popular melodies with only one hand.

Using SMFs, users can choose one of the many fully-orchestrated versions of popular songs and mute individual instrument parts and add their own playing "over the top," making the KR-75 perfect for practicing or performing favorite melodies. The KR-75's 16-track sequencer lets users record and edit their playing, creating their own personalized music library.

The KR-75 can be easily expanded into a complete musical entertainment center. Insert a music file disk containing lyric data and the KR-75 will display the lyrics on the built-in LCD, or on an external monitor/TV with the optional LVC-1. This makes the KR-75 perfect for singing groups and Karaoke. With the built-in computer interface, the KR-75 can be connected to a personal computer for access to an extensive range of music composition software.

With its intuitive display panel shows, players see exactly which selections they've made. Instruments, musical styles and other selections are conveniently displayed on the KR-75's large LCD, making navigation a breeze.

The KR-75 also makes learning to play the piano fun. A built-in Ear Training Game helps music learners develop a sense of sound and rhythm. And keeping time has also become more fun with dog, cat, and vocal count metronome functions and a bouncing ball display. The KR-75 also features two headphone jacks, so players can practice any time of the day or night.
