July 24, 1999
Whether you are a vintage guitar enthusiast, a working
musician, or someone who simply wants the look, feel and sound of a classic
Fender guitar, look no further. Fender is proud to introduce the '72 Telecaster
Custom® and the '72 Telecaster Thinline® the two latest additions
to Fender's Classic Series guitar family.
Originally built by Fender dining one of its "darker" eras
of production, the first '72 Telecaster Customs and '72 Telecaster Thinlines
never quite realized their true potential. Now, Fender has dusted off
these classic designs and is ready to produce them again. But this time
around, the essence of what they were originally intended to be has been
combined with modem manufacturing techniques and quality control, resulting
in two exceptionally great sounding and well made guitars.
Recalling a sound that that was popularized by Keith Richards' '72 Tele®,
the '72 Telecaster Custom and '72 Telecaster Thinline will join last year's
'69 Telecaster Thinline as the newest members of the Classic Telecaster
revival. To insure their predecessor's integrity and spirit, these new
Teles will be produced at Fender's own state-of-the-art manufacturing
facility in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
