Parker Guitars Introduces NiteFlys with Active Mixing Circuit

January 29, 1998

Parker Guitars announces that all NiteFlys will now feature a stereo/mono switch and active circuitry that enables the player to mix the guitars electric and acoustic sounds to a single amplifier when using a standard mono instrument cable. With this new design the acoustic and electric sounds can still be output to separate power sources when the stereo cable which each NiteFly is supplied with is employed.

The NiteFly, a 22-fret, bolt-on neck version of the Fly was introduced in July, 1996 at Summer NAMM, Nashville. In keeping with the Parker tradition of creating guitars that are light and agile, the NiteFly tips the scale at about 6.5 pounds.

The maple-bodied NiteFly features a basswood neck incorporating a layer of high-modulus carbon and glass fiber (as thin as a coat of paint) molded to its back. Its fingerboard is made of a similar composite that's strong, yet light-weight and fast. In addition, the NiteFly features a free-floating spring vibrato system utilizing a premium steel and high-strength aluminum bridge, plus jumbo spring-tempered, stainless-steel frets.

The NiteFly is available in both solid colors: White Pearl and Black Pearl, as well as transparent colors: Sunburst, Transparent Blue and Transparent Red. All NiteFlys feature instant switching between their Fishman piezo-transducer system and DiMarzio magnetic pickups, and are offered in two magnetic pickup configurations: hum/single/single or single/single/single.

The new active NiteFlys are available immediately with list prices of $1399 for the triple single configuration and $1449 for the hum/single/single model.

Parker Guitars is a Massachusetts-based company. The Parker Fly Guitar, which has earned numerous U.S. design, technology and manufacturing patents represents a radical departure from traditional electric guitar designs. At about 5 pounds, the Parker Fly incorporates numerous new design elements such as a thin yet richly resonant solid wood body made from either poplar, mahogany, maple or spruce wood and a basswood neck reinforced with a revolutionary exoskeleton of carbon and glass fiber. An equally revolutionary electronics package allows for the flexibility in the instrument to deliver both modern electric sounds and rich, lush acoustic sounds. Parker Guitars are exclusively distributed by Korg USA.
