New Portable Mixer from Sound Devices

Sound Devices, the Wisconsin-based manufacturer of portable audio products, has introduced the 302 Compact Production Mixer.

Developed specifically for field production audio applications, the battery-powered 302 mixer is for production companies and camera operators wanting to take control of their audio.

Jon Tatooles, Managing Director of Sound Devices adds, "Today's field production crews need their equipment to be highly portable. Video cameras are getting smaller and lighter while their picture quality continues to improve. Similarly, the 302 provides the features and performance of larger ENG audio mixers in a far smaller size. The 302 brings the most important functions – level control, metering, and monitoring – up front and accessible. While it is a very feature-rich product, we have been able to keep it accessible to all classes of users."

Key features of the 302 Compact Production Mixer include:

Large, 40-segment sunlight-viewable output level meters
Channel-selectable microphone powering (48/12 V phantom and T-power)
Three high-quality microphone inputs with Lundahl input transformers
Input limiters and software-selectable output limiters
Headphone monitoring, including PFLs and MS stereo matrix
Unique channel 4/5 input option expands the number of inputs
Durable chassis designed and tested in environmental extremes

The 302 is powered by three internal AA batteries or from external DC sources. Without phantom power engaged, the 302 uses only three batteries for a full day's shoot. It is link-compatible with the Sound Devices 442.
