B-Band Ltd (formerly EMF Acoustics), known largely for their B-Band UST undersaddle transducer systems for acoustic guitar, double bass and violin, introduces the B-Band AST (acoustic soundboard transducer). The B-Band AST (model # 15M) is a simple way to add a pickup system to guitar plus gaining the sound attributes of the exclusive material that B-Band uses in all their transducers. Besides providing a sound similar to a studio microphone, the B-Band AST has very high gain before feedback unlike a microphone. Although the B-Band AST was designed for acoustic guitar it can work with some similar instruments as well for instance bouzouki. The B-Band AST attaches to the bridge plate or soundboard, inside the instrument, with harmless putty that is strong enough to hold for a lifetime but is also easy to remove if needed. Only one B-Band AST is recommended but in some unusual situations two B-Band ASTs can be used. The B-Band AST comes complete as a system with the 2150 endpin preamp, designed specifically for one or two B-Band AST(s), and has a second input for an optional sound hole condenser microphone.
