Abbey Road Studios Releases AU & VST Versions of the TG Mastering Pack

Advertisement Following the release of the TG Mastering Pack for Pro Tools last year, Abbey Road are pleased to announce the release of new Audio Unit and VST versions of the plug-in and compatibility with all major audio workstations for Mac and Windows. The TG Mastering Pack comprises authentic emulations of the Tone Control and Presence/Filter modules from the TG12410 console, bringing these rare and highly-prized EQs to the world of digital audio workstations. Built in the early 1970s, the TG12410 console was custom developed by EMI technicians for use in EMI's disk cutting rooms, and was not commercially available outside of EMI's studios. The features and design of these consoles is considered so good that they are still used today in Abbey Road's transfer and remastering rooms. The TG12412 Tone Control EQ provides comprehensive four-band equalisation, with selectable centre frequency, adjustable bandwidth or "Q" and up to 10dB of boost/cut on each band. Curve shapes are labelled with terms such as "blunt", "medium" and "sharp" to describe the shape of the response curve. The TG12414 Filter plug-in includes variable low- and high-pass filters and a presence control offering eight centre frequencies between 500Hz and 10 kHz and up to 10dB of boost/cut. The software was developed by digitally modelling vintage EMI hardware modules. The plug-ins recreate the characteristics and unique sound of the original hardware and, when combined with the EMI TG12413 Limiter plug-in, essentially give DAW users the classic Abbey Road mastering chain in software form.
