PRESS RELEASE

Acoustic Guitar Magazine Appoints Teja Gerken Senior Editor

April 12, 2007

Acoustic Guitar magazine is pleased to announce that long time Gear Editor, Teja Gerken, has been promoted to Senior Editor. Gerken is still overseeing gear features and new product announcements, but has handed over his gear-review responsibilities (to Associate Editor Charles Saufley) in order to be more actively involved in planning general content for both the magazine and AcousticGuitar.com.

"Having been Acoustic Guitar's Gear Editor since 1997, Teja is a valuable asset to our publication," said Phil Catalfo, Editor of Acoustic Guitar. "His knowledge of the acoustic guitar market and his immersion in the acoustic guitar community at large plays a vital role in Acoustic Guitar's position as the leading magazine and website for acoustic players."

In addition to his work at Acoustic Guitar, Gerken has also been a contributing author to several guitar books and co-authored Hal Leonard's Acoustic Guitars, An Historical Look at the Composition, Construction, and Evolution of One of the World's Most Beloved Instruments.

As a musician, he's released two critically acclaimed solo fingerstyle guitar albums (1999's On My Way, and 2005's Postcards), and has toured extensively in the US and Europe.

"I feel very fortunate to be able to merge my personal passion with my day-to-day work, said Gerken. "Being an editor at Acoustic Guitar has brought me closer to a community of guitarists and luthiers than I ever thought possible ten years ago, and my passion for the instrument and its players is as alive when I'm playing a gig in Budapest as it is when I'm attending a trade show or interviewing an artist."
