AcuTab Publications Releases "Playing Fiddle in the Bluegrass Style" DVD With Ron Stewart

Advertisement After more than a year's delay, AcuTab Publications has finally completed the Ron Stewart fiddle DVD. AcuTab is delighted to feature such an accomplished fiddler as Ron Stewart in their debut offering, entitled "Playing Fiddle in the Bluegrass Style." The DVD has a running time of 90 minutes. Ten songs and tunes are demonstrated, taken from recent recordings on which Ron has been featured on fiddle. Ron Stewart is one of bluegrass music's most sought-after fiddlers. He tours with bluegrass legend J.D. Crowe as a member of The New South, and is a top session player when new bluegrass projects are being recorded. His fiddle has been featured on recent recordings by Rhonda Vincent, Ronnie Bowman and many others. After some introductory discussion about tone production and bows, Ron is right into the music. First up are a number of breaks he has cut on vocal songs, where he shows the basic melody before demonstrating how he played his solo. Ron also covers a number of great fiddle tunes, plus several instrumentals he has written, offering a detailed look at how this superb musician approaches bluegrass fiddle. Ron teaches three of his original instrumental tunes (Stewart's Dream, Blue Fiddler, Twister) plus one from Team Flathead (Seeing Nelly Home), and several others he has recorded (Soldier's Joy, Whistling Rufus). Each song (vocal or instrumental) is played with a small band, and then broken down section-by-section before being shown (fast and slow) in a split screen display.
