April 20, 2007

Carmine Appice's award-winning book, Realistic Rock, is now available with the new DVD Ultimate Realistic Rock, The Basics (ISBN 0739046268). This package includes the book, two CDs, and a DVD featuring instruction through selected exercises by Carmine Appice and special guests Kenny Aronoff, John Tempesta, Vinny Appice, Bobby Rondinelli, and Rick Gratton.

Realistic Rock, originally published by Carmine in October 1972, has sold over 350,000 copies to date, making it the best-selling instructional rock drum book of all time. The book was voted #11 in Modern Drummer's August 1993 "Top 25 Drum Books of All Time" list, and past students of the book include world-renowned drummers Dave Weckl and Greg Bissonette.

Carmine Appice first entered the spotlight as the drummer of Vanilla Fudge in the late '60s, later forming the bands Cactus and King Kobra. Carmine has played with some of the biggest rock musicians in the world, including Jeff Beck, Stanley Clarke, Ozzy Osbourne, Brian May, and Pink Floyd. As part of the Rod Stewart Band, Carmine helped write the hit songs "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" and "Young Turks." He has been inducted into the Hollywood Rock Walk of Fame (along with Ginger Baker and Alex Van Halen), and received Sabian's "World's Greatest Rock Drummer" award and Sabian's "Lifetime Achievement" award.
