GenieSys Voice has released AudioCollapse RatHole v3.1 for free. The software can be used for lossless compression of audio files containing audio data in PCM 8, 16, 24 bit or IEEE_FLOAT 32 bit data format. A new GenieSys algorithm makes it possible to reduce the size of packed audio data and then unpack exactly the same bits, with no differences to the original data. The AudioCollapse algorithm compresses audio data, considering the bit depth of the digital data contained in the audio file (8/16/24/32 bps). The algorithm can be used on:
RatHole can also be used as the common archiving utility for archiving any other types of files. The compression ratio of AudioCollapse method depends on the size of audio data, the balance between the tone and noise component of audio signal, bit depth and other factors, varying from 36% to 78%. The higher the bit depth and the fidelity of audio data, the better is the compression ratio. GenieSys Voice is using the technology to deliver their own SF2 banks up to 97MB size (after AudioCollapse - 25 MB) and GIGA banks up to 80MB (after AudioCollapse - 18 MB). Free for non-commercial purposes. Recent GenieSys headlines
