Aviom Introduces The 1600 A-Net Chip For Interface With Popular Personal Mixers

October 18, 2006

Aviom recently debuted its latest core technology solution, the 1600 A-Net® chip, at AES 2006.

The 1600 A-Net chip is designed specifically to allow console manufacturers to integrate a direct digital interface to Aviom's Pro16 Series™ professional audio products, including the A-16II and A-16R Personal Mixers, A-16D and A-16D Pro A-Net Distributors, and AN-16/o Output Module.

The new chip accepts eight I2S digital audio inputs (16 total channels) and outputs A-Net data. A-Net is Aviom's high-speed digital audio networking protocol that supports sub-millisecond system-wide latency, long Cat-5e cable runs, and plug-and-play simplicity. Implementation of a 1600 A-Net interface requires the 1600 A-Net chip, a 100Base-TX Ethernet interface, and a microcontroller.

This newest addition to Aviom's core technology supports sample rates from 39.7kHz to 52kHz, at 24 bits. No data compression is used at any time. The outputs of up to four 1600 A-Net interfaces can be combined onto a single cable using Aviom's AN-16SB or AN-16SBR System Bridges. Aviom is sampling parts currently.
