Breedlove Guitars Teams Up With Joe Craven For A Tenor Guitar

February 16, 2006

Joe Craven and Breedlove have put their heads together to build a tenor guitar.

Joe says his thinking is to get it into the hands of his young violin students as a way for them to accompany each other and use the same chord shapes as mandolin and or violin. The tenor will have a 23" scale neck on an OM style body, which Breedlove already builds. Rosewood back and sides with Red Spruce top and prewar bracing will complete this new instrument.

Joe craven is a multi-instrumentalist that is widely respected as a musician and composer and instructor. His partnership with David Grisman for over 18 years speaks for itself. As a session musician Joe has performed on over 80 recordings by artists such as Alison Krause and Bonnie Raitt.

Breedlove will build two of these prototype instruments and see what kind of reaction they bring before putting them into production.
