Carvin Introduces LS Series Loudspeakers

November 30, 2006

Carvin proudly introduces the new LS Series loudspeaker systems. Designed for musicians and mobile DJs alike, Carvin's new LS Series loudspeakers are perfect for today's club scene. Consisting of eight models, the LS Series delivers the features performers demand—including 16-guage perforated steel grills, recessed steel handles, high order - low loss crossovers, plus Neutrik Speakon™ and quarter-inch connectors. With multi-layered, cross laminated plywood construction and Duratuff™ coverings, the new LS Series loudspeakers deliver exceptional performance and value.

With eight models to choose from, musicians and DJs are certain to find a system ideally tailored to their requirements. Carvin's LS Series consists of three 2-way systems (the LS1002, LS1202, and LS1502), three 3-way systems (the LS1503, LS1523, and LS2153), and two sub bass systems (the LS1801 and the LS1802). With the exception of the LS1002, all LS Series loudspeakers are biampable.

The LS1002 features a 10-inch driver for low and mid frequency reproduction coupled with a titanium high frequency driver. The enclosure can be used as a main, fill, or monitor system. The LS1202—with its high efficiency 12-inch driver for low and mid frequency reproduction and a 1-inch exit titanium high frequency driver mounted to a 90 degree conical waveguide—is also a multipurpose 2-way main / wedge monitor system. With a high efficiency 15-inch driver for low and mid frequency reproduction and a 1-inch exit titanium high frequency driver mounted to a 90 degree conical waveguide, the LS1502—like its siblings—is a multipurpose main / wedge monitor system. All three models incorporate a 1 3/8-inch pole cup for use on a speaker stand or pole mounted on top of a subwoofer such as the LS1801. Carvin's LS1503 is a 3-way loudspeaker system (with a pole cup) that is ideally designed as a front of house main system for small venues. It offers a 15-inch low frequency driver, a 6-inch midrange driver, and a 1-inch exit neodymium high frequency driver mounted to a 90- x 60-degree constant directivity horn lens. The LS1523 features dual high efficiency 15-inch low frequency drivers, two 6-inch mid drivers, and a 1-inch exit neodymium high frequency driver mounted to a 90- x 60-degree constant directivity horn lens. It is designed as a main system for small to medium sized venues.

The LS2153 is a compact, quasi 3-way loudspeaker system that is ideal as a front of house main system for small to medium sized venues or for use as a side fill monitor when high SPL and imaging is necessary on stage. The LS2153 features dual 15-inch drivers—one for low frequency reproduction and one for low / mid frequency reproduction—and a 1-inch exit high frequency driver mounted to a 90- x 60-degree constant directivity horn lens.

The LS Series offers a choice of two subwoofer systems for extended LF response. The LS1801 features a high efficiency, high capacity 18-inch low frequency driver, while the LS1802 features dual high efficiency, high capacity, 18-inch low frequency drivers.

Of particular importance, all LS Series loudspeaker enclosures utilize multi-layered, cross laminated plywood construction—providing rigid enclosure walls that reduce flex and sonic coloration caused by cabinet resonance. This plywood construction results in a structurally more robust enclosure designed to handle the rigors of the road. Combined with Neutrik Speakon™ and quarter-inch connectors, along with 16-guage perforated steel grilles and recessed steel handles, the LS Series are designed to last.

The new Carvin LS Series loudspeaker systems range in price from $399 to $799. The entire LS Series product line is scheduled to ship by Q1 2007.
