Crunchessor VST Compressor Updated

November 10, 2004

Version 1.2 of Crunchessor–a general-purpose track compressor in PC VST plug-in format–has been released. Three new features were added since the previous version release.

The first feature is the compression release range switch. It allows the user to switch between the default "High" (25 to 3000 ms) and the new "Low" (1 to 25 ms) release ranges.

The second new feature is the true (external) side-chain functionality. When side-chain is enabled Crunchessor will expect two additional channels to be routed to its inputs. These channels will be used as a side-chain signal to drive the compression.

And the third new element is the "Smooth" coloration style which boosts mid range slightly and cuts the highest frequencies.

Crunchessor features:

  • Tube-style warmness
  • Coloration styles
  • Fast and slow attack modes
  • True side-chaining
  • Gain reduction meter
  • Factory presets
  • "A-to-B" comparisons
  • Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing
  • All sample rates supported
  • 64-bit internal precision
  • Native assembler DSP code
