Learn Cubase VST On-Line
November 04, 1999
Advertisement Alexander Publishing fires up its fourth online class on Monday, November 8 when it launches its 42-lesson Introduction to Sequencing, Recording and Mixing with Cubase VST, teacher-assisted on-line class for $99. The blockbuster online class, for either Mac or PC, comes with preformatted drum patterns, scoring templates, MIDI files for learning the program, audio files to calibrate the Cubase system between the mixing board and VST, .wav or aiff audio files created by LA session players for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, MIDI drums, MIDI keyboard, flute, and voice to teach the Cubase user how to effect, EQ, and mix a recording. For the final project, students submit a hybrid recording done on Cubase combining MIDI and live musicians. The Alexander University class is organized to take immediate advantage of the Rocket Network once the Cubase module is available. "This way, whatever a student does, we can critique it in real time," said co-instructor David A. Kowal, a former professor in the Berklee Music Production and Engineering program in Boston. The course should work well for people wanting to learn how to record with VST, who are converting to Cubase from other programs, who want to get going on the program quickly, and for those who have minimum experiencing sequencing.
