WALDORF, the German synthesizer company, is launching D-Coder, a Vocoding Synthesizer Plug-In for TC PowerCore. D-Coder is the first 3rd party Plug-In to become available for TC WORKS' open DSP processing platform. D-Coder goes beyond classic Vocoder concepts by providing an integrated synthesizer as tone generator. This way no external carrier signal is required to make the vocoding effect audible. D-Coder is based on the synthesis and DSP technology used in the popular Waldorf Q and MicroQ synthesizers, now made accessible to TC PowerCore users from inside any VST-compatible sequencer. As the DSP processing is running on the card, the Plug-In doesn't require any significant native CPU power to run. Wolfgang Düren, Waldorf's CEO on the D-Coder project: "TC PowerCore is a great platform for our Plug-In products, as it is totally open to VST and thus instantly compatible with most major audio and sequencer products on Mac and PC." Düren continues," We already have several successful native Plug-Ins on the market - like the PPG Wave and Attack - but TC PowerCore's DSP-Power now allows us to create even more demanding products without having to keep an eye on the CPU performance requirements", says Düren. The Vocoder section features a hi-resolution analysis, allowing the generation of very high quality vocoding effects. The simple, yet efficient control surface even includes a 3 band equalizer with sweepable mid frequencies and a Chorus for utmost flexibility. D-Coders synthesizer section provides a classic 2 Oscillator model with the standard waveforms and Ring Modulation, a Filter section with different Filter Types and Resonance, LFO, Glide and simple Envelopes. Thanks to the synth, the Vocoder doesn't require a complicated setup with external sound generators. Of course, the synth can also be played just like any regular synthesizer! WALDORF D-Coder will be available from December 2001 and will be exclusively distributed by TC WORKS. Recommended Retail price: $ 299 US SPECIFICATIONS
