EGO SYS Inc. announced its 192 Series of PCI-based multichannel audio interfaces, which offer 24-bit/192kHz performance, priced from an affordable $199 (US). The series includes the Waveterminal 192L and Waveterminal 192X - both with stereo-inputs and six-outputs on PCI cards; and the 4- in/8-output WaMi Rack 192X. The new interfaces are based on the designs of EGO SYS' original Waveterminal and WaMi Rack, but with advanced audio capabilities to meet the needs of DVD-Audio production within the PC recording environment. Housed on a half-length PCI card, the Waveterminal 192L ($199) is a 2-in/6-out design featuring 20-bit/96kHz A/D converters and 24- bit/192kHz D/A converters, all with 100 dB dynamic range. Other features include: stereo analog line inputs, mono mic preamp with 12VDC phantom power, headphone amp output, 24-bit/192kHz S/PDIF stereo optical digital output and full duplex (simultaneous record/playback) capability. The $299 Waveterminal 192X is also a 2-in/6-out interface boasting a 24-bit/192kHz A/D and 24-bit/192kHz D/A converters. Also standard is a 24-bit/192kHz S/PDIF stereo optical digital output, simultaneous record/playback and support for Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 surround formats. Used with a software decoder such as the WinDVD Player, the 192X transforms your PC into a full-blown 5.1 home theater system–with 192kHz/24-bit resolution. Options for the Waveterminal cards include S/PDIF optical (TosLink) digital inputs, 192kHz S/PDIF coaxial I/O and a 1-in/1-out MIDI interface. Intended to form the central core of a complete 192kHz/24-bit recording system, the WaMi Rack 192X ($799) is a single-rackspace unit that connects to your computer via a half-length PCI card. Features include four studio-quality discrete XLR mic preamps (line/mic switchable) inputs with 48VDC phantom power, headphone output with independent level control, built-in MIDI interface, optical and coaxial S/PDIF connectors, and offers support for Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS ES 6.1, and 7.1 surround sound formats. All 192 Series systems support the EGO SYS E-WDM driver for compatibility with Windows XP, 2000, ME, and 98SE offering low-latency performance with digital audio applications such as Nuendo, Cubase, Gigastudio, Cakewalk, Sonar and Logic. The EGO SYS 192 Series products are slated to begin deliveries in January 2002. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.esi-pro.com/.Recent EGO SYS headlines
