MusicXML Support Coming to Finale

Recordare LLC, an Internet music software and publishing company, announced an agreement with the Coda Music Technology division of Net4Music, Inc. to include Recordare's MusicXML Converter in future versions of Finale and other Coda music notation products.

MusicXML is a universal translator for common Western music notation used in printed sheet music. It allows computer music programs to share data using a powerful XML standard. Companies including Visiv, Xemus Software, and Middle C Software announced their support for MusicXML last October. The TaBazar guitar tablature editor added MusicXML support in January.

"Music software has not moved as quickly as some applications to take advantage of open document formats," stated Michael Good, CEO of Recordare LLC. "Coda led the market in this area years ago by introducing its Plug-in Development Kit. Now Coda extends its leadership once again by becoming the largest music software company to embrace MusicXML. Music created using Coda's notation products will become even more valuable by being easy to exchange with other music programs."

Recordare's MusicXML Converter plug-in gives Finale's Windows users unparalleled choice among music scanning programs. Visiv's SharpEye Music Reader, a leader in music scanning products, can save MusicXML files that can be read into Finale. The MusicXML Converter also allows Finale 2000 users to import Finale 2002 files with higher accuracy than ever before.
