PRESS RELEASE
Hal Leonard Publishes "The Daily Adventures of MIXERMAN"
May 12, 2009
Advertisement The corporate greed and avarice that the music business is legendary for was bound to one day go from recording industry secret to well-documented and common knowledge. Few secrets ever last but who could have guessed how the buying public would come to learn the reasons behind the mountain of unlistenable evidence that screams "The recording industry eats its own and with poor table manners to boot!" Somewhere in a small corner of a vast digital Universe, a prominent Los Angeles recording engineer decides to write anonymously about his experiences on an upcoming Major Label release that he has been hired to work on. It is July of 2002 and blogging was just creeping into our lexicon but by keeping an online journal or diary for what started out as a small audience of musicians and recordists, this mysterious writer by name of Mixerman helped shape Internet publishing. While describing brilliantly the hate and hilarity that big budgets, big egos and bigger expectations bring to 'artistic' endeavors, Mixerman's diary soon became both a fast growing Internet sensation with a huge following as well as a sword of Damocles he had sharpened himself. Although he changed the names of those involved and did everything to protect the identities of those in his diary, Mixerman never counted on hundreds of thousands of people flocking to his entries and whipping up a frenzy of curiosity as to just who and what was going on where and when. The Mixerman Diaries have become a bible of sorts for recording studios, musicians and music lovers alike who have taken it to iconic status in their circles. A funny, insightful and educating read, The Daily Adventures of Mixerman is a rare venture into voyeurism. About the Author: Aside from the fact that Mixerman is a respected Los Angeles recording engineer, little else is known about this mysterious music insider, other than his own unverifiable claims (which we are somehow contractually obligated to provide to you) that he weighs in excess of 450 pounds and still manages to perform daily Pilates with the grace of Baryshnikov at the Venice Beach Gold's Gym. He can be reached through his website mixerman.net where he also hosts a regular and popular podcast on recording. Your guess as to his true identity is as good as ours, but if you figure it out, please let us know. We'd like to send him lots of money.
