Museum Plans McCarty Tribute, More
September 10, 2003
Advertisement The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad will host a special tribute to honor the life and accomplishments of guitar innovator, Ted McCarty, on Saturday, September 27th at 3:30 PM. As President of Gibson Guitars from 1948-1966, Ted McCarty was instrumental in the creation of some of Gibson's most successful, influential and recognizable designs like the Les Paul, the ES-175, the Flying V, the Explorer, and the ES-335 models. Ted McCarty, whose life's work has inspired hundreds of thousands of guitarists, musicians and luthiers, passed away on April 1, 2001 at the age of 91. Included in this tribute will be a special gathering of guitar luminaries including Paul Reed Smith, founder of PRS Guitars, and McCarty family members, who will share their insights into the legacy of Ted McCarty. The event is free and open to the public. For information or to inquire about reservations, please contact the museum at (760) 438-5996, or visit www.museumofmakingmusic.org. The month of October will also feature a number of other events of interest to guitarists as part of the museums Annual Series "StringFever–A Century of Guitar Fascination":
