Cakewalk announced the release of Cakewalk Metro SE for the iMac. Unlike other Mac-based music software, Metro SE enables iMac users to start recording and mixing music on their computer without having to make a significant investment in software and compatible hardware. Metro SE will also work on higher-powered Macs, including the new G3 and G4 models. Metro(tm) SE ($29 U.S.) is based on Cakewalk's award-winning Metro 5 professional recording software for the Mac. The new Metro SE edition will be available on January 14, 2000, exclusively by download at www.cakewalk.com. "We realized that no other music software manufacturers were addressing the needs of new iMac users," said Michael Hoover, product manager at Cakewalk. "Metro SE is an affordable, creative music production tool, yet it's simple enough for novice users to start recording, editing and mixing their own digital audio and MIDI tracks. You can even import MP3 files from the Web." "With support for Apple Sound Manager, external USB devices, and QuickTime Musical instruments, Metro SE works great on an iMac," continued Hoover. " So the new iMac user doesn't need to purchase additional audio hardware or other devices to start creating music with Metro SE." Metro SE's scalable design allows users to expand their system with additional audio and MIDI hardware as their needs grow. Registered Metro SE users can also upgrade to the more advanced-level Metro 5 software directly through Cakewalk. Metro SE Highlights
