Michael Tobias Design Ships KZ 4 And KZ 5 Bass Guitars

Michael Tobias Design has announced the first shipment of its highly anticipated KZ 5 and KZ 4 model instruments. "The MTD KZ Series was created for discerning players looking for the tone, clarity, feel and response found only in a handmade, boutique bass," said Michael Tobias. "I've incorporated many of the design elements found on our American series instruments in an effort to provide a high quality instrument at a truly affordable price. Even the look is similar to our standard handmade models."

Carefully constructed using a high-quality mahogany core and beautifully adorned with a burled maple top, the KZ basses marry beauty with unparalleled performance. The instruments are loaded with reversed split coil humbucking pick-ups wound to exacting specs and attractively housed under burled maple covers. The standard active electronics, tuned by Tobias, offer bass, mid and treble tone controls, pick-up blend and a master volume. All of the circuitry is neatly tucked in a shielded body cavity to ensure an extremely low noise floor.

The KZ Series hardware package includes a custom made MTD quick release bridge and highly accurate, proprietary tuning gears. As with all MTD instruments the Buzz Feiten Tuning System comes standard.

The KZ Series will street at $949.00 for the 4 string and $999.00 for the KZ5.
