Advertisement Modern Drummer Announces All-Star Line-Up and New Location for 2008 Drum Festival Modern Drummer Publications (www.moderndrummer.com) is proud to announce an unprecedented lineup of world-class drum artists, along with a new location just north of New York City, for the eighteenth edition of Modern Drummer Festival Weekend — the most prestigious, longest-running, and largest live drumming event in the world. The event, which features established drumming legends as well as rising stars from a wide variety of popular musical styles, will take place on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, 2008 in the Concert Hall of the Performing Arts Center on the campus of the State University of New York at Purchase, New York. Located about 45 minutes from the heart of New York City, SUNY/Purchase represents a new venue for the Festival, and was chosen for its excellent location, renowned acoustics, and intimate vibe, while also allowing for the event's continued growth and expansion. The official line-up of featured performers for the 2008 Modern Drummer Festival Weekend is: Saturday, September 20, 2008 Ndugu Chancler (Michael Jackson/Santana/Weather Report) Will Calhoun (Living Colour) Billy Ward (Joan Osborne/Robbie Robertson/Bill Champlin) & The Billy Ward Trio Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta) Sunday, September 21, 2008 Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree/King Crimson) Todd Sucherman (Styx/Brian Wilson) Dafnis Prieto (Michel Camilo) & The Dafnis Prieto Sextet Derek Roddy (Serpents Rise/Traumedy) While some artists offer solo "clinic" performances and others appear "in concert" with additional musicians during their Festival segments, all share their talents in the educational and entertaining format that has made the MD Festival a must-see event for drummers around the world. For over two decades, the two-day Festival has been recognized for its diversity and ability to bring together drummers of all styles, ages, and abilities, and this year's event promises to continue that tradition. Many of the previous Modern Drummer Festivals have been sell-outs, and over the past several years MD Festival videos have been among the world's top-selling drumming DVDs. Tickets are now on sale exclusively through the Purchase College Performing Arts Center box office. Call (914) 251-6200, Monday through Friday, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time).
