The N72 from Seventh Circle Audio is an all-discrete class-A microphone preamp closely based on the classic Neve 1272. Available as a kit, assembled module, or complete preamp, the N72 delivers the color, character, and quality of a vintage unit for a lower price. Designed around a single circuit board using modern components, the N72 kit is easy to build with basic electronic tools. Due to the single PCB design there is no tedious and error-prone point-to-point wiring required, and a single channel can be assembled in as little as 90 minutes. For the less ambitious DIYer, assembled preamp modules are also available at additional cost. As many as 8 N72 modules along with a PS01 power supply can be racked in a standard 2U chassis, available separately or drilled and punched by Seventh Circle Audio. The N72 microphone preamp and PS01 power supply are available now at the Seventh Circle Audio website. Priced according to the amount of DIY effort involved, N72 kits start at $75, PS01 kits start at $45.
