Piccolo snare drums continue to increase in popularity both as a main snare or a subsnare addition to the basic kit. With their new PST1233 (3 1/4" x 12") and PST1255 (5 1/2" x 12") piccolo snare drum listing for a paltry $179.99, Tama now has one of the widest ranges of piccolos available–both in numbers of models and different prices. On the other end of the scale, Tama continues to offer its famous (or infamously loud) Bell Brass PL5325 (3 1/4" x 14") piccolo which, at $1299.99, costs as much as many full sets of drums. Right in the middle is Tama's bronze piccolo, one of the new favorites of many drummers. "Bronze has a very pleasing tone all it's own–between wood and metal-which gives a good balance for a piccolo," commented Bill Reim, Tama's Art and Advertising manager, and a drummer himself. "We've had a lot of drummers tells us that our bronze snare drums, both piccolos and regular sizes are now their favorite snares."
