Build Your Own Pickups with Stew-Mac Kits

Pickup Kit Humbucker

If you've ever considered building your own pickups or want to rewind or repair pickups, Stewart-MacDonald now offers kits to make single coil or humbuckers.

The single coil kit includes black fibre bobbin flatwork with eyelets, vintage spec staggered Alnico 5 polepiece magnets and black/white single conductor wire. Units will fit a standard Stratocaster pickup cover and pickguard.

Alternatively, the humbucker kit includes a nickel silver baseplate, unwound plastic bobbins (double black or black/cream zebra), 6 nickel plated steel polepiece slugs and screws, Alnico 5 bar magnet, polepiece spacer, shim, bobbin screws, coil lead wires, and both single conductor 'push back' braided hookup wire and 4 conductor hookup wire. Units will fit a standard size Gibson PAF size pickup covers and mounting rings.

Coil wire, tape and pickup winding machine are available separately. Each kit features authentic vintage specification parts and assembly instructions.

The single coil pickup kit is priced at $18.90, and the humbucker kit goes for $26.92.
