Ultimate Sound Bank announced that it is now shipping Plugsound Volume 6: Global Collection. Plugsound 6 "Global Collection" redefines the meaning of "General MIDI". Until now, the GM compatible sound allowed musicians to exchange music easily, but frankly the sounds were almost invariably bad, and compromised the music with their mediocrity. Thousands of samples were used to recreate the classic presets and drum kits. The 650 MB represent 250 times more sample-time than the first GM tone modules that defined the sound quality of GM until now. Now you can use these sounds and collaborate on the net without complicated file exchange systems... simply exchange MIDIfiles and let the sound shine. Global Collection is not a "best-of" of the other plugsound titles - it includes orchestral sounds and many instruments previously unavailable in any Plugsound volume. Under the hood is the powerful UVI-Engine which features dual multimode filters, two envelopes, complete MIDI control via Continuous Controllers, a mono-legato mode and much more. The acoustic and electric piano category is first, followed by Pitched Percussions, Organs, Guitars, Basses, Strings, Ensemble Sounds, Brass, Reeds, Pipes... The collection then moves on to Synth Leads, Pads and Composites, followed by Ethnic, Percussive and Sound Effect categories. Volume 6 then offers another 128 presets consisting of light versions of the original 128 GM presets. Finally, 7 GM drum kits are supplied, followed by 7 light versions. Each Plugsound volume is a virtual instrument based on a professional sample library, that can be used in Digital Performer and Pro Tools on Mac OS, as well as Logic Audio, Cubase and Nuendo on Mac & PC.
