Pyramind Announces FREE Music Industry Career Seminar Series
June 06, 2008
Pyramind announces its June "Planning for Success" seminar with professional composer and musician, Allen Whitman. Pyramind's monthly guest lecture series, "Planning for Success," is focused on entrepreneurship and success stories in the music industry. Each month a different guest is invited to speak about their unique music industry career path and what lead them to where they are today. "Planning for Success" is designed to show the many facets of the music business, including composing, recording, technology, production, marketing, and distribution, and provide a networking opportunity for all participants. This FREE community service is open to the public and a requirement for all Pyramind students. With over 37-years of experience in performing, recording, producing, licensing, composing, and touring, the Bay Area-based Allen Whitman has worked in numerous musical genres, from rock to music for theater and even spoken word, with equally diverse musicians, including The Mermen, Tiny Tim, The Inkspots, Henry Kaiser, Helios Creed, and The Sandals. As half of The FezGuys duo (www.fezguys.com), Whitman, with his technophile partner Jon Luini, is the co-author of the comprehensive book, "Streaming Audio: The FezGuys' Guide." The FezGuys have contributed five years of monthly columns, stories, interviews, and editorials to such diverse publications as The San Francisco Examiner, Wired, Yahoo! Internet Life, and leading recording industry and enthusiast publications TapeOp, EQ, Pro Sound News, and Surround Professional. As a moderator, panelist, and interviewer, Whitman has lectured at countless music and multimedia events from Macworld, to South By Southwest, and National Association of Broadcasters. Whitman also serves on the board of the groundbreaking Independent Distribution Collective, a revolutionary music distribution association operated by Pyramind. Whitman's seminar, which will surely inspire and motivate, will cover just about every subject from creation through to production and distribution.
