SoundMX, a Palo Alto start-up, has created a remotely controlled eight-channel audio mixer, the RemoteMX. The system allows the control unit to be up to 1000 feet from the mixer unit via one XLR cable. With the control unit, you can control the mix being fed to the monitors in real-time, plus the ability to mute channels, leaving the audio engineer free to worry about the mix the audience hears. ">

New Remote Audio Mixer For Stage/Studio

May 04, 1998

SoundMX (http://www.soundmx.com/), a start-up company in Palo Alto, California, has announced the release of a new product called RemoteMX, an eight-channel remotely-controlled audio mixer consisting of a rack-mounted Mixer Unit and a small Control Unit. From the Control Unit, vocalists or musicians can adjust the levels of instruments and line-level or microphone audio sources. The Mixer Unit connects to an existing audio mixer board; the Control Unit can be up to 1000 feet away and connects via a single XLR microphone cable.

The Control Unit provides simple operating controls and bright bar-graph displays that allow the user to create an audio mix and adjust its volume. Individual channels or the entire mix may also be temporarily muted while feedback problems are adjusted. Unique to RemoteMX(TM) is the 7-band graphical equalizer for each channel – no other system on the market today provides such a rich spectrum of features in such an easy-to-use package.

RemoteMX is an excellent solution for remote control of stage or studio Monitor Mixes, and a perfect fit for controlling the mix fed to the new generation of In-Ear monitoring systems, where the a good audio mix is critical to the musical performance.
