Reverend Debuts The Manta Ray 290 Electric Guitar

February 16, 2007

Reverend has introduced the Manta Ray 290 guitar, one of their new Set-Neck series. This jazz/blues/rock guitar produces the response and acoustic richness of a classic full size semi-hollow, but with a slightly smaller and slimmer body.

The bridge pickup is slightly hotter than a vintage PAF, and the neck pickup slightly cleaner for balanced tone and output. The versatile Bass Contour control can imitate single-coil pickups (without hum), allowing the guitar to go from rock crunch to clean twang.

Solid wood construction is featured throughout, with no veneer or plywood. The back, sides and center block are produced from one slab of mahogany which is routed from the top, and then capped with a solid maple top. Sustain and attack are enhanced, and coupled with substantial resonance for a lively and responsive tone.

Features:

  • Semi-hollow with 5.5 mm solid maple top on mahogany, and 'shooting star' f-hole
  • Two Reverend humbucker pickups
  • 3-Way pickup switch
  • Wilkinson staggered EZ-Lock tuners
  • Volume, Tone, and Bass Contour (bass roll off) controls
  • 24.75" scale bolt-on maple neck with graphite nut and dual-action truss rod
  • Rosewood fingerboard with 12" radius and 22 frets
  • Retail price: $559, $599 w/ Flame Maple top
Options:
  • Metallic Alpine, Flame Maple w/ Tobacco Burst
  • Les Trem tremolo ($100)
