PRESS RELEASE

Sonic Maximizer Available as VST Mac Plug-In

December 18, 2001

Virsonix, audio software developer, and BBE Sound announced the release of the Macintosh VST BBE Sonic Maximizer plugin. The BBE Sonic Maximizer is known for restoring "live presence" to recorded music and is a mainstay in professional recording studios.

"For over a decade the BBE Sonic Maximizer has been employed by professional musicians, such as Aerosmith and Tim McGraw, and leading consumer electronic manufacturers, such as Sony, Aiwa, Alpine, Pioneer, to take the fidelity of both live and recorded sound to new heights of clarity and definition," says John McLaren, BBE president. "The new Virsonix plugin version delivers the same naturally brilliant highs and harmonically rich lows as the traditional BBE Sonic Maximizer hardware."

"Our strategic partnership with BBE Sound has allowed us to create a PC and Mac software plugin that allows musicians to utilize the time-tested BBE process while keeping their recordings completely digital," says Lance Jacobs, president and general manager of Virsonix.

The Macintosh VST BBE Sonic Maximizer plug in is available for $129 through the Virsonix website.

  • Highs are clearer, naturally brilliant and more finely detailed. Lows are tight, well-defined and harmonically rich.
  • Guitars are "brought out of the mud" with clarity, definition, and harmonic complexity.
  • Electric & acoustic basses take on a rich, earthy "CD" sound.
  • Vocals cut through amplified instruments so they can be better heard. Lyrics of the song are no longer "buried in the mix."
  • BBE sound processing brings out the full spectrum of sound and expands the spatial dimension of stereo effects like reverb and chorus.
