Soundminer 3.0 Adds OS X Support, More

Soundminer Inc. announced its new flagship application, Soundminer 3.0 for both OS9 and OSX featuring advanced support for both Steinberg's Nuendo (Mac only) and Digidesign's ProTools 6 and DigiBase.
"We realized with the move over to OS X we had an opportunity to add things we had wanted to add for some time." says Soundminer's Steve Pecile. Most notable advancements to users include Nuendo 2.0 and ProTools 6 support, metadata support for DigiBase and The Pool, BWAV support, multichannel support including the ability to spot surround tracks and the new multiple spot feature, which allows users to "layup" multiple files to a Nuendo/ProTools track.
Highlights include:
- OVER 50 METADATA FIELDS - BWAV container fields, ID3 tag fields, Project specific fields, music fields and more.
- BWAV support - transfer, read, overviews, ingest BWAV metadata.
- MARK IN/OUT right from the BROWSER's overview window and spot directly without even going to the editor.
- DIRECT PRO TOOLS SESSION IMPORT - Reads all region names plus region definitions (in and out times in master file), session timestamp (where it got used) as well as user and original timestamp information.
- LAYUP MULTIPLE TO NUENDO/PRO TOOLS - Spot the entire Bin end to end to a track starting from a user defined point.
- NEW VARISPEED (with transfer) - you have the option to set your varispeed in both the Bin or Browser and transfer each member of the Bin with its own varispeed setting.
- NEW BIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - new organizational system that allows users to tag items to multiple Bin each with their own transfer properties. Bins also allow users to add and embed project information in all transferred files as well as track all transferred and untransferred files.
- METADATA COPY - now SM3 transfers all metadata (including project data) when transferring to Pro Tools or any other DAW. It even prints the Scene/Reel/Notes and description in the BWAV container so DigiBase can see that info right from Pro Tools 6.
- OPTIONS FOR S/R CONVERSION - select fast or high quality conversion algorithms.
- SOUNDIGGER - Now you can search your database for files that sound like the current selection's spectral content.
- MULTI CHANNEL MIXER - Real time playback of up to 6 channels.
- NATIVE PROCESSING SUPPORT - Up to five Native plug-ins can be inserted into the monitor chain in real time and applied to transfers.
- NEW PLAYBACK ENGINE - A SM3 original, play and transfer anything from 22khz to 192 khz, 8bits to 32bits and up to 6 channels of realtime playback – support for the ProTools multi channel, BWAV polyphonic and de-interleaved numeric.
- QUICKTIME SPOTTING – Frame accurate control and synchronization to any QT movie with mark in/out form Browser so you can be accurate while compiling spotting sessions.
- NEW SPOT FUNCTIONALITY. Adds, search and sort by Scene, Reel, Continuity, and Notes information
- NEW OVERVIEW - detail playhead, scalable overview, locate buttons, and more.
- NEW SCANNER - acquires Soundminer metadata, finder comments, BWAV containers and ID3 tags.
- WINDOW SETS - up to five different window sets with quick recall access.
- LIVE RECORD FEATURE (OS X only) - Stack the VST RACK, perform moves and have SM3 record it all.
- M/S ENCODER - Built in M/S encoding
- SUMMARY - creates summaries for anything and instantly recall it as a search option - ie. pull down of all your music categories, or list of your folder hierarchy, or list of all your libraries.
- MULTIPROCESSOR OPTIMIZED (OSX only) - now take advantage of your dual processor Macintoshes.
Soundminer 3.0 works with all Digidesign session formats from 5.1.1 up and with all levels from LE through to Pro Tools 6 HD/TDM systems as well as Nuendo 1.5 to 2.0 systems (Mac only).
