Metasonix Introduces TM-2 Tube Filter
January 30, 2002

The new METASONIX TM-2 is a dual bandpass filter plus VCA with a difference: it has guts. Made of VACUUM TUBES. Not transistors, or diode ladders, or ICs, or virtual anything. Just tubes. The TM-2 is as real as a filter can get. Because of its unique all-pentode tube topology, the TM-2's audio behavior is totally strange and distinctive. Check the Metasonix website for mp3 demos of the TM-2's effects. Like their modules, the TM-2 does not use cheap 12AX7s–it uses only high-quality NOS pentode tubes. The TM-2 has control-voltage inputs for filter center frequency and for VCA gain. It is compatible with all other analog synthesizers. The VCA may be used in an analog synth setting—if not used, it self-bypasses. And TM-2 can be used standalone as an effects pedal. OR it can be rackmounted, OR mounted in an MOTM modular synth, using an optional TM-M kit. It can even be used to make a TUBE WAH pedal, by simply plugging an expression pedal into the filter CV jack.
