U.S. Masters Unveils Magnus Performer 5 Bass Guitar

October 31, 2008

A new look and feel, the latest structural developments and exceptional value mark the introduction of U.S. Masters' new Magnus Performer 5 High Performance bass guitar. The advanced design provides significant improvements in sound quality and playability over conventionally designed basses. Though fully American made, Magnus Performer 5 is competitively priced with higher-end imports.

The body design, similar in size to a jazz bass, is longer and slightly wider than U.S. Masters' EP Series 5-strings. This positions the bass more to the right on your body (assuming a right-handed player) so there is less of a reach when playing down by the nut. The neck is set at an angle to the body which allows your arm to be in a more relaxed position when playing in the lower ranges. The design also provides unobstructed access all the way to the 24th fret as the neck joins the body at the 22nd fret and there is no heel.

U.S. Masters Ever-Tru 5-string neck is uniquely shaped to allow your hand, wrist and forearm to work as efficiently and consistently as possible as you play both across the fingerboard and up and down the neck. The fingerboard is an asymmetrical shape, an offset conical (compound) radius that makes playing across the fingerboard to the low B very easy with a more uniform feel to the height of strings. The compound radius makes the fingerboard rounder in the lower registers and flatter in the upper registers, as the neck gets wider, so the shape of the fingerboard fits how your fingers naturally move and extend. It is especially good for players who do a lot of arpeggios and chording up the neck. The feel is very intuitive, and players report that it plays easier and faster than conventional necks and that they experience less fatigue when playing long sessions.

Exceptional low end power and response are achieved by the rigid structural design of U.S. Masters High Performance Magnus bass. The patented design extends both the low and high end acoustical response of the bass while also exciting more resonance from the body. The bass is fairly light. The structure does not depend upon weight to achieve low-end performance. The low B maintains an even balance of volume, tone and dynamics with respect to the other strings so it simply sounds like an extension of the E string. The rigid structure allows tuning down to lower pitches without sacrificing performance.

The Magnus Performer 5 has a mahogany body that is given a hand-rubbed natural satin urethane varnish finish. It gives the wood a rich, natural luster like an oil finish, but the surface is much smoother and is more easily cleaned and polished while also providing a better seal and protection for the wood. It is equipped with a fully shielded and humbucking dual soapbar pickup set, volume and blend controls and an EMG 3-band active EQ.

Further high-end appointments include made in the USA premium Sperzel Locking tuning machines, Graph Tech nut, high alloy premium German fret wire and LaBella strings.

At a $1,195 STREET PRICE (including a deluxe gig bag) the U.S. Masters Magnus Performer 5 5-string bass guitar is an exceptional value, especially considering it is fully made in the USA. Magnus Performer 5 5-string bass guitar - $1,690 MSRP including deluxe gig bag, $1,195 street price
