As of today, VirSyn is now shipping the CUBE additive synthesizer. CUBE is a multitimbral software synthesizer bringing you the power and complexity of additive synthesis to your computer studio. This kind of synthesis is well known for its potential of creating virtually any sound you can think of. But its also well known for the large number of parameters you have to control for reasonable results. Because of this, only a few synthesizers exist that are based primarily or exclusively on this synthesis technology. With CUBE, VirSyn hopes this will no longer be true. ound morphing capabilities enable you to easily create complex evolving sound scapes, vocal phrases or rhythms simply by choosing up to four sound sources from a predefined set. Then add one of the predefined envelopes and a unique, complex sound preset containing thousands of parameters is created. If you want to dive deeper into the inner secrets of this synthesis monster you can manipulate each parameter individually for precise control over the sound. A number of high level parameters such as Brightness and Harmonic spread control hundreds of synthesis parameters in a way modeled after the inner workings of natural instruments. CUBE gives you also a new method of getting randomly generated sound patches. Every single time it gives you a new unique sound patch. CUBE is a platform independent program which can be used on Macs and PCs. This includes stand-alone and VST 2.0 compatible versions for Windows, Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. The new AudioUnit format for Mac OS X is also supported. The CUBE preset files are compatible and can be exchanged between platforms. Technical Details: CUBE is based on additive synthesis, meaning all sounds are created from pure sine tones. Every voice can have up to 512 partials depending on the pitch of the note and the general settings of the number of partials. CUBE has 4 parameter sets each describing a "Source".
