Building upon the original Waveterminal design, EGO SYS has created the Waveterminal 2496, a pretty feature rich audio card featuring both analog and digital I/O with up to 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution and 4-channel full duplex operation. The card itself includes coaxial S/PDIF I/O (24-bit, 96 kHz) and a pair of analog inputs and outputs that can accept either balanced or unbalanced connectors. The A/D and D/A converters are also 24-bit, 96 kHz. Other connections include a direct digital input from a CD-ROM and a digital connector for the Sound Blaster Live! Value card (which allows you to send the Sound Blaster's outputs through the Waveterminal's D/As). Internal data paths support 32-bit resolution, and a real-time hardware sample rate converter is built-in. The Waveterminal 2496 doesn't include MIDI on its own, but an additional bracket is included for connecting the Miditerminal 4140, a 4-in, 4-out MIDI interfaces with SMPTE. If you need more audio I/O, you can use up to four Waveterminal 2496 cards in one computer. Available drivers include Windows 95/98 MME, DirectSound, Windows 2000 WDM, EASI, and ASIO 2.0. The Waveterminal 2496 is also GSIF compatible (for use with the NemeSys GigaSampler). The list price for the Waveterminal 2496 is $349. Features:
